BIOGRAPHY
The Charlotte House Series is thrilled to welcome for the first time Kansas City-based singer Jessica Dressler to premier "Meet Me in Kansas City," a concert that will highlight some of Judy Garland's most acclaimed songs, most of which were performed at Garland's Carnegie Hall debut on April 23, 1961.
As a Kansas City native, Jessica Dressler has performed in countless theatrical productions over the last 20 years, and is best known as a charismatic actress with Late Night Theatre, Kansas City's own drag parody theatre company, which she co-produces with Ron Megee. Most notably, she is known for her insatiable character, Dirty Dorothy, the drag show hostess extraordinaire. The concept Dressler portrays is that of Dorothy coming back to Oz with a new, redefined perspective, one that’s perhaps not so “small and meek.” Needless to say, Dorothy is certainly not in Kansas anymore during these incredibly entertaining performances. Dressler’s fascination with this renowned character has naturally led her to create a long-standing career as a Judy Garland vocal impersonator. Dressler is thrilled to share some of her favorite Judy songs with a Charlotte House Series audience and to open the Series' fifth season.
